At Dharma Shala, we practice sustainability through the ethical philosophy of karma yoga. That’s why we open our doors to people from all over the world who wish to live a conscious experience, connect with nature, and contribute from the heart to a space dedicated to well-being, community, and spirituality. Our volunteer program offers free accommodation and access to our holistic community in exchange for collaborative work in different areas of the Shala: assisting at the reception, cleaning, maintaining spaces, gardening, helping prepare classes or activities, and supporting the daily life of the house. More than a simple exchange, being a volunteer at Dharma Shala is an invitation to live the practice of karma yoga — the yoga of selfless service. Here, work becomes a tool for personal and collective growth, an opportunity to practice presence, cooperation, and devotion while sustaining the energy of the place that, in turn, sustains you. This path invites us to experience community life from a place of awareness — working together toward a common purpose, caring for the Earth and one another, and embodying the ethical and spiritual values that inspire both yoga and the ancestral traditions of indigenous peoples: respect, gratitude, truth, simplicity, and love for all living beings.
